Leveraging new energy solutions
Together with several partners INFRAPOWER is developing new business models and already started several pilot projects focused on renewable energy production, storage and applications.
These applications deliver their full potential when they are combined to decentralized systems. Such decentralized systems compensate each other in case of volatile energy production and are already a reality today. Energy production and power storage in one grid play an important role in energy supply, as they constantly feed energy into the power grid without any disorder or the use of expensive central grids.
Grid-independent systems are microgrids. To ensure security of supply and price stability, these microgrids require energy storage. If the power goes out in a large central grid, a microgrid can continue to supply electricity. If the systems are connected to the grid for safety, they can be disconnected if necessary. The advantage of microgrids is that, unlike a central grid, they are not dependent on a universal, fast communication capability between the different network levels and elements.
At Infrapower, evolution is at our core, and we are continuously working to take sustainable energy to its next big step. Therefore we entered the wind turbine market with the aim to make wind power affordable and availabe for every one. In 2012 we therefore started investing in several wind power turbines in South East Asia to offer increased value to customers with proven performance, reliability and availability.
Believing in the enormous potential of solar power, Infrapower began in 2009 investing in upcoming technology companies. Togehter with these, we were aiming at making solar power technologies more efficient and practicable for an economical and ecological use. Since then, we managed to become one of the leading partners in this branch, when it comes to investing in solar power projects.
For example, together with Jinko Solar we managed to significantly reduce the costs of solar module production, making the total cost of solar power and coal-fired electricity equivalent. This has accelerated the popularization of solar power and made clean energy available to the general public.
Hydro plants have the capability to deliver maximum performance and reliability at very low emissions. Especially in South East Asia hydro power therefore can secure and fulfill the expectations of millions of customers, such as individuals, companies or nations.
Our investment portfolio covers a variety of hydro power plants, from high and low head to storage and run-of-river, to offer the demanded energy in a clean and afforable way.
